What is neostatic?

This websites purpose is to showcase code examples and techniques for using micro controllers. Micro controllers like raspberry pi pico, various esp32, or basic arduino can be purchased cheaply worldwide and with some basic knowedge can be used to add remote access and/or easy automation to all sorts of diy projects.

This website is also an exercise in coding/creation/design for myself. I grew up in the 90's and spent some of my teenage years building simple html websites during some of the last years that Geocities was a thing. There is a certain charm that comes from visiting a website entirely from scratch like it's 1998. Todays internet has been completely taken over with gigantic sterile websites built to basically be soul-sucking advertisment machines. I would encourage anyone to spend less time on those websites/apps where you tend to doomscroll and instead work on projects of your own. Learn html/css and create a web page. Or python/cpp and write a program. Its pretty fun to give a computer or cpu some commands and see what happens.

Expanding on that idea of giving computers commands and enjoying the result, micro controllers allow a way to take a simple hello world program and take it into the physical world.

Blink an led.

If you can blink an led on a microcontroller, maybe you can toggle a relay. Maybe you can connect to the internet. If you can do that then you can perhaps grab the time from the internet and turn that relay on and off at certain times of the day. Connect up a piezo buzzer and a lamp and now you have a simple alarm clock. Use a motion sensor and now you have a simple burglar alarm. or helpful motion light if you take away the piezo buzzer. You can quickly figure out that your only limited by your imagination when tinkering with micro controllers.
